THESIS PROJECT - LEGNO VELOCE
As my thesis project at the Free University of Bolzano, I designed and built a wooden bicycle frame that combines the aesthetics of a triathlon race bike with the practicality of urban daily use. Developed as a hollow-frame construction from ash wood, the bike brings together design innovation, craftsmanship, and technical precision in a coherent concept. The free-floating saddle emphasizes the frame’s distinctive geometry, giving it both lightness and dynamic lines. Ash was chosen not only for its natural appearance but also for its elasticity and vibration-damping qualities, making it well suited for frame design. Produced through a combination of handcraft and CNC technology, the project demonstrates how wood can be reinterpreted as a material for contemporary bicycle construction.
